Chimney Sweep FAQs
How often should a chimney be swept?
Once a year — even with light use. Santa Barbara’s coastal air adds moisture that mixes with creosote and accelerates corrosion. If you burn more than a cord of wood a season, have it swept twice a year.
How much does a chimney sweep cost in Santa Barbara?
Most single-flue sweeps with an inspection are a flat, quoted-up-front price — call (805) 682-5939 and we will quote it over the phone. No surprises when we arrive.
How long does a chimney sweep take?
About 45–60 minutes for a standard sweep with a Level 1 inspection.
Will it make a mess in my house?
No. We lay floor protection, use HEPA-filtered vacuums, and leave your hearth cleaner than we found it.
What is creosote and why is it dangerous?
Creosote is a tar-like residue from wood smoke that builds up inside your flue. It is the leading cause of chimney fires — a sweep removes it before it can ignite.
Do you inspect while you sweep?
Yes — every sweep includes a visual inspection of the flue, crown, cap, and firebox. We also install gas logs and inserts if you are ready to upgrade.
